Where Learning Begins

Christian Education

Education here starts small and builds toward lasting change. Thirty-four campuses stand across five mountain parishes, each one anchored to an Episcopal church and staffed by teachers who are part of the community they serve, equipping more than 7,000 students for what comes next.

The Foundation: K Through 6

All 34 campuses serve the primary grades, the years where a vulnerable child first meets a caring teacher and a stable place to learn.

12 Campuses Extend to 9th Grade

Haitian secondary school begins at seventh grade. Twelve of HEF's campuses carry students through ninth, co-funded equally by HEF and by the parents investing in their own child's future.

4 Campuses Offer Philo, the 13th Year

Four campuses carry students all the way through Philo, Haiti's thirteenth year of school, which qualifies a graduate to test for university entry.

Teachers Paid, Twelve Months a Year

HEF teachers are paid every month of the year, with a thirteenth-month bonus most years. Haitian government teachers often go months without a paycheck.

Why Feeding Comes First

Daily Nourishment

A hungry child cannot learn. The feeding program is not a bonus. It is a prerequisite for everything else.

Feeding dollars are kept in their own designated account, separate from general operating funds. What is given to feed a child feeds that child, in full.

65,000 Meals, Every Month

Through the Trinity Hope feeding partnership, HEF serves 65,000 hot meals every month across its mountain campuses.

Sourced From Haitian Vendors

Food is never imported. HEF walks alongside local vendors, so every meal strengthens the community along with the child who eats it.

Cooked by Mothers in the Community

Local mothers are employed as cooks, turning the feeding program into steady work and dignity for families who need both.

Beyond High School

The Père Albert Scholarship Fund

Twenty scholars are enrolled right now in nursing, medicine, engineering, agriculture, commercial business, education, and skilled trades, the next generation of Haitian professionals equipped to lead their own communities forward.

One graduate became the first Haitian to earn a Salesforce certification. He is now building a system to track HEF's alumni and the generational change their education has set in motion.

The Whole Community

More Than a School

Beyond the classroom and the cafeteria, an HEF campus becomes a place of faithful presence for the whole community around it. Two smaller programs carry that presence further.

Clean Water at Every Campus

An ongoing program builds and repairs cisterns campus by campus, so a school can offer clean water to the families around it.

Medical Care Through Haiti Healthcare Partners

Most fully developed at HEF's mother school in Sheridant, this partnership brings basic medical care to communities that would otherwise go without.
