Are These Really Christians?

Growing, theologically conservative churches ask this question often, and they are right to ask it. Here is the honest, direct answer.

Haiti Education Foundation is an independent 501(c)(3) ministry. It is not part of, and receives no funding from, The Episcopal Church in America. HEF was founded more than three decades ago by a Presbyterian woman working alongside an Episcopal priest in the mountains of southern Haiti, and that interdenominational DNA has shaped the ministry ever since.

The Episcopal Church of Haiti is theologically conservative and evangelical in practice. It has far more in common with conservative Anglican churches around the world than with the progressive posture of The Episcopal Church in America, the denomination most people picture when they hear the word Episcopal.

What matters most is what is actually happening in the classroom and the pew. Five Episcopal priests, serving five individual mountain parishes, preach the gospel in Creole every week. Independent research from Trinity Hope found that roughly ninety five percent of children educated in HEF's Christian schools come to believe in Jesus Christ.

What Partnership Looks Like

Sponsorship, Giving, and Prayer, All in One Place

Partnership takes different shapes for different churches. Some congregations sponsor a school’s teacher salaries for a full year. Others give toward the fund that sustains every unsponsored school in between. Many simply commit to pray for a mountain parish and the priest who leads it. Every path is a way of equipping vulnerable children and families you may never meet, in the mountains of southern Haiti.
