Haiti Education Foundation covers its own minimal operating costs through separate designated funding, including gifts from donors who choose to designate their giving specifically toward that purpose. A gift designated to a school, a scholarship, or the feeding program is never reduced to cover overhead.

Can You Trust This?

Is it safe? Are your people okay?

The southern mountains where HEF works have remained relatively stable while gangs control roughly ninety percent of Port-au-Prince. The region has become a refuge for families fleeing the capital, not a place families are fleeing from. Our Haitian staff live in these mountains, and they have never stopped showing up.

Doesn't this create dependency?

HEF's schools are Haitian-owned and Haitian-led. They were never built to depend on an American presence, and that is exactly why the ministry survived more than six years when travel to Haiti was impossible. Haitian priests, teachers, and directors carried the work forward on their own.
